Wildgall, Mountain peak in Rieserferner Group, South Tyrol, Italy
Wildgall is a mountain peak in the Rieserfernergruppe that rises between the municipalities of Rasen-Antholz and Sand in Taufers in South Tyrol. The summit sits at around 3,273 meters and is surrounded by the Eastern Rieserfernergruppe Glacier.
The peak was first climbed on August 18, 1872, by Victor Hecht along with Johann and Sepp Ausserhofer from Riva di Tures. This early ascent marked the beginning of documented climbing activity in this mountain range.
This peak is part of the Rieserfernergruppe landscape that has shaped life in the valleys below for generations. The mountain holds meaning for local climbers who view these heights as part of their natural heritage.
The mountain is reachable by two main routes: one from Rifugio Roma and another from Rifugio Barmer in Anterselva di Sopra. Experience in mountain climbing and glacier climbing is needed to reach the summit safely.
The mountain's surroundings feature various ice formations including deep crevasses and steep ice walls that give the peak a rough character. These glacier features make each route an experience filled with unexpected challenges.
