San Donato, Romanesque church in Siena, Italy

The Chiesa di San Donato features a stone and brick facade with a marble rose window, reflecting both medieval and Romanesque architectural elements.

Originally named San Michele in Poggio and established in 1119, the church underwent reconstruction in 1683 when the Carmelite Order assumed control.

The interior contains numerous paintings, including five canvases depicting the Life of St Theresa of Avila created by Antonio Nasini.

The church opens daily from 07:00 to 16:00 and stands at Piazza dell'Abbadia 5, near the original offices of Monte de Paschi di Siena.

The main altar displays two marble angels crafted by Giuseppe Mazzuoli, while Luigi Ademollo created the apse frescoes in 1794.
