Santa Maria di Provenzano, Mannerist church in central Siena, Italy.

Santa Maria di Provenzano is a white marble church that shapes the landscape of central Siena with its refined form. Its interior follows a Latin cross layout crowned by an octagonal dome where the transept intersects.

Architect Flaminio del Turco designed this building, which opened in 1611 under Medici patronage. The church arose during a period when Siena was governed from outside and religious art served as a symbol of power and faith.

The Madonna figure inside holds deep roots in Siena's faith, and people visit to pay their respects at this holy site. The plaza in front becomes a gathering place for the community during major religious celebrations.

This church sits within easy walking distance in central Siena and is accessible from multiple sides. Visitors can also explore the Oratory chapel located beneath the main structure, with its own entrance on Via della Vergine.

Inside sits a terracotta Madonna from the 14th century, covered with silver plating since 1806. This protective layer safeguards the ancient artwork and reflects how the church has preserved its treasures over time.
