The church features a travertine facade with Corinthian capitals, flanking pilasters, a circular window, and marble heraldic shields of the Cinughi family.
Bishop Giovanni Cinughi commissioned the construction of Santa Maria delle Nevi in 1471, with architect Francesco di Giorgio completing the structure by 1477.
The main altarpiece from 1477 by Matteo di Giovanni depicts the Madonna and Child with Saints Peter, Lawrence, Catherine of Siena, and John the Evangelist.
The museum section received 4,964 visitors in 2019, showing an increase from 1,694 visitors recorded in the previous year.
Angels in the altarpiece hold chalices of snow, referencing a miracle connected to the Santa Maria Maggiore church in Rome.
