Santa Maria delle Nevi, Siena, Renaissance church and museum in Via Banchi di Sopra, Siena, Italy.

Santa Maria delle Nevi is a church and museum in Siena built with a travertine facade featuring decorated pilasters and a circular window. The interior displays a Renaissance altarpiece with several holy figures painted by an important artist of that period.

The church was commissioned in 1471 by Bishop Giovanni Cinughi and completed in 1477 by architect Francesco di Giorgio. Its construction took place during the height of the Renaissance period in Siena.

The church holds religious artworks from the Renaissance period that reflect connections between Siena and Rome. Visitors can see how local artists expressed spiritual themes through painting and sculpture within this sacred space.

The church is located in a central area of Siena and is easily accessible on foot. Entry to the building allows visitors to experience both the architecture and the religious artworks up close.

The altarpiece contains a special symbolic detail with angels holding vessels in a visual reference to a Roman legend. This artistic choice links the local church to an important religious story from another city.
