Teatro dei Rozzi, Historic theatre in Siena, Italy
The Teatro dei Rozzi is a theatre house in Siena with three levels of balconies arranged in a horseshoe shape. The venue hosts theatrical performances, concerts, and conferences for around 500 guests.
The theatre opened in 1817 following architect Alessandro Doveri's design, marking a new beginning for performing arts in the city. After extensive restoration, it reopened to the public in 1998.
The building reflects classical Italian design and shows how the city has supported artists across generations. Visitors today can experience the elegant interior that speaks to this appreciation for the performing arts.
The theatre is located at Piazza Indipendenza in the city centre. Visitors should check ahead for current events and plan their route to the venue.
In 2017, a special banner was created to mark the theatre's 200th anniversary, designed by artist Laura Brocchi. This work shows how the building remains connected to the city's cultural life today.
