El Gesù, Castellammare di Stabia

El Gesù is a baroque church in Castellammare di Stabia featuring a facade adorned with two sculpted coats of arms created by Giuseppe Filosa. The interior contains an elaborated ceiling with religious paintings and is organized through numerous artworks.

Construction began in 1614 under Jesuit supervision, with architects Pietro Provedi and Agazio Stoia leading the design. The church was built as part of the Jesuit expansion throughout southern Italy during that era.

This place serves as a gathering space where locals come to worship, centered around the high altarpiece depicting the Virgin of the Succor by Luca Giordano alongside other religious artworks that fill the interior.
