Church of Santa Chiara at Villa York

The Church of Santa Chiara is located at the intersection of Via Santa Chiara and Via di Torre Argentina, one block south of the Pantheon. The building features a single nave with artfully decorated walls and is administered by the Congregation of the Holy Spirit.

Saint Charles Borromeo founded this church at the end of the 16th century upon the ruins of the Baths of Agrippa. The complex developed alongside a Franciscan convent, with both structures integrated into a single religious compound.

The interior is dedicated to Saint Clare and displays frescoes and paintings created during the 19th century. These decorations reflect the artistic tradition associated with this religious space.
