Santa Maria della Vita, Former church in Naples, Italy
Santa Maria della Vita features a Greek-cross floor plan with polychrome marble staircases leading to an elevated central altar point.
The church construction occurred between 1602 and 1613 under architect Giuseppe Nuvolo, following the establishment of a Dominican monastery in 1577.
The crypt contains ten shallow altars decorated with frescoes by Bernardino Fera, representing religious art from the period.
The structure underwent multiple restorations during the 19th century and reopened in 1930 before closing again in 1969.
A 6th-century Madonna and Child image discovered on site in the 1500s influenced the establishment of this religious building.
