The Air and Space Museum is housed in Villa Zaborra and displays over 300 aircraft models across 38 exhibition rooms. The collection traces the development of flight from hot air balloons to spacecraft, with exhibits arranged to follow how aviation evolved over time.

The villa was originally a medieval fortress that later became a civilian residence, where aviation artifacts began to be collected in the 1900s. The museum officially opened in 1980 and transformed the space into a dedicated center for preserving the history of flight and space exploration.

The collection tells the story of how flying captured human imagination across different times and places. You encounter da Vinci's theoretical designs next to real aircraft that changed travel and warfare, showing how each era imagined and then built its own version of taking to the skies.

The museum occupies a multi-level building including lower floors, so wear comfortable shoes and allow several hours to see the exhibits. Weekdays tend to be less crowded, making it easier to move through the various exhibition halls at your own pace.

The gardens surrounding the villa with their geometric hedge patterns are as much part of the visit as the indoor exhibits and invite you to walk through. This green setting provides a quiet contrast to the technical displays inside.
