Villa Emo, Renaissance villa in Rivella, Monselice, Italy.
Villa Emo is a Renaissance residence near Monselice featuring a square foundation with a columned portico set upon a stone base. Two lateral staircases with balustrades ascend to the upper level portico, where Corinthian-topped columns frame the entrance overlooking the Battaglia Canal.
Built around 1588, the villa was designed by architect Vincenzo Scamozzi for members of the Contarini family. It represents part of the expansion of Venetian wealth into mainland estates during this era.
The main hall displays ceiling frescoes credited to Veronese, showing the artistic refinement found in such residences. The room layout and proportions follow the Venetian villa tradition of that period.
The two side staircases provide accessible routes to the upper areas, with wide steps and solid balustrades throughout. Visitors should expect the building to spread across multiple levels requiring movement between them.
The garden features restored waterways planted with aquatic vegetation and an oval parterre bordered by boxwood hedges. Poplar-lined paths connect different areas and lead to a quiet pond on the property.
