Petrarca's house

Petrarch's house is a two-story stone residence with several rooms furnished with period pieces, manuscripts, and personal belongings from the 14th century. The rooms display how the poet lived and worked during his time there.

The poet Francesco Petrarca arrived at this residence near the end of his life and spent his final years there. Later the building was transformed into a museum to preserve the legacy of this important writer for future generations.

The walls inside display scenes from the poet's life that were added over time. These images tell the story of his literary impact and influence on European thought.

The house is accessible throughout both floors, making it easy for all visitors to explore the rooms comfortably. Plan to spend time looking at the various items on display, as there is much to see in each room.

The house was converted into a museum during the early modern period and ranks among the first private homes to be opened as a public exhibition space. This made it a model for preserving writer's homes across Europe.
