Palazzo Oddo, Renaissance palace in Albenga, Italy

Palazzo Oddo is a Renaissance palace occupying an entire block in the historic center of Albenga and connected to the Church of San Carlo through an architectural arch. The complex houses an auditorium with seating for approximately 130 people and is used for conferences, concerts, and cultural events.

The palace was donated by Gio Maria Oddi to the city in 1623 to establish a college and higher education school, transforming it from a private residence. This change marked its shift from a family home to an educational institution that would shape the city.

The palace houses the Simonetta Comanedi civic library with more than 25,000 volumes, including the Don Balletto collection of philosophy and art works. This collection reflects the long intellectual tradition that has developed within the building.

The palace is located in central Albenga and can be explored on foot, offering easy access to adjacent historic sites in the area. Visitors should check opening times beforehand, as the building primarily serves as a venue for events and exhibitions.

The third floor displays a Roman glass plate from the 2nd century that demonstrates the craftmanship of ancient Albingaunum. This rare artifact allows visitors to see the remarkable artistic techniques that were used in this ancient city.
