Palazzo Peloso Cepolla, Renaissance palace in Historic Centre of Albenga, Italy.

Palazzo Peloso Cepolla is a palace in the historic center of Albenga with a striking facade that incorporates a thirteenth-century tower. This tower features a dark stone base and a red brick upper section, making the building immediately recognizable as you walk through the square.

The tower dates to the medieval period and was reshaped in the sixteenth century by the Cepolla family. This renovation modified the tower top with decorative elements and upgraded the entire residential complex to match the tastes of this influential family.

The interior displays seventeenth-century frescoes that decorate the main rooms and reflect the tastes of the wealthy families who lived here. These painted walls show how the inhabitants wanted to present themselves and their status to visitors.

The building now houses municipal archives and a research institute, so access for visitors is limited and worth checking beforehand. Some of the interior spaces and courtyards may be open during special events or if you contact the institution directly about visiting conditions.

The entrance hall contains a fresco depicting a family member dressed as Hercules, referencing an unusual legend about the family's claimed ancestry. This artwork reveals how wealthy Renaissance families liked to present themselves through mythological imagery and grand storytelling.
