Palazzo delle Vedove

Palazzo delle Vedove is a medieval building located at the corner of Via Santa Maria and Via Trento in Pisa. Its facade displays a distinctive marble window divided into four sections, a characteristic feature of the architectural style from that period.

The building was constructed between the 12th and 14th centuries on land that once belonged to the Bocci family. During the 16th century, it underwent major rebuilding and changes.

The palace got its name from serving as a home for widows of the Medici family. These women used covered walkways to visit San Nicola church while staying out of public view.
