Palazzo di Valfonda, Renaissance palace in Florence, Italy
Palazzo di Valfonda is a Renaissance palace in Florence with a rustic facade, two stories, and a central entrance portal. Symmetrically arranged windows run along its extended length facing Via Valfonda, creating a balanced composition typical of the period.
The palace was built around 1520 by the Bartolini-Salimbeni family under the design of architect Baccio d'Agnolo. Chiappino Vitelli acquired the building in 1558 and became one of its notable owners.
Artists Benedetto da Rovezzano, Andrea Sansovino, and Giovanni della Robbia contributed decorative elements throughout the palace during its construction period.
The building sits at number 9 Via Valfonda near Santa Maria Novella station in central Florence. Today it serves as the headquarters of Confindustria Firenze, the regional business confederation.
The site once featured a large garden that stretched from Via Valfonda toward the city walls. This garden was lost when the Santa Maria Novella station was constructed nearby.
