Museo e tesoro della Cattedrale, Church treasure and archaeological museum in Città Alta, Italy
The Museo e tesoro della Cattedrale displays religious artifacts and archaeological findings beneath the Cathedral of Bergamo through multiple exhibition spaces.
The museum reveals remains of the 5th-century San Vincenzo Cathedral, which was later rebuilt in the 15th century under architect Antonio Averlino's direction.
The museum collection includes precious liturgical items such as the silver Cross of San Procolo and ceremonial garments from past centuries.
Visitors enter through the north side of the cathedral and descend a staircase to access the museum, which opens Thursday afternoons and weekends.
Archaeological excavations between 2004 and 2012 uncovered Roman houses and paved streets dating from the 1st century BC to 1st century AD.
