Platano della Tesoriera

The Platano della Tesoriera is a tall plane tree in Parco della Tesoriera with a height of about 28 meters and a substantial trunk. It stands near the main park entrance and is easily identified by visitors walking through the grounds.

The tree was planted in the late 18th century when Villa Tesoriera was constructed, making it one of Turin's oldest trees. It has witnessed all the changes the city has undergone over the following centuries.

Local residents affectionately call this plane tree "Matusalemme" or "Nonno", reflecting how the community views it as a natural landmark of the city. The nicknames reveal the sense of kinship people feel toward this ancient tree.

The tree offers natural shade for visitors throughout the year and serves as an easily reached meeting point in the park. Its central location makes it accessible from all parts of the grounds.

The tree displays remarkable resistance to urban pollution, which is quite extraordinary for such an old specimen. Despite regular pruning interventions, it continues to grow strong and remains vital.
