Villa La Tesoriera

Villa La Tesoriera, 18th-century Baroque villa in Turin, Italy

Description

Villa La Tesoriera is an early 18th-century Baroque building in Turin designed with a central section and two symmetrical wings. It sits within Parco della Tesoriera and retains original architectural details from its construction period, including decorated rooms and large wall frescoes.

History

The building was constructed between 1713 and 1715 for Aymo Ferrero Cocconato, treasurer to the Duke of Savoy. Over the centuries it passed through various owners before undergoing major renovation and reopening to the public in 2012.

Culture

Today the villa serves as a music center where concerts and cultural events bring visitors together throughout the year. The decorated rooms create a special setting for music lovers, blending the architectural past with active artistic life.

Practical

The villa is located in a quiet area near Corso Francia and is easily reached on foot when walking through the neighborhood. Allow enough time to explore the rooms and their decorations thoroughly, especially if visiting during cultural events.

Did you know?

The Grand Salon features elaborate wall frescoes painted by the artist Giovanni Battista Pozzo that visitors can discover while exploring. On the building's south side stands a painted plaque crediting designer Jacopo Maggi from Cremona, adding a local artistic connection to the house's story.
