Caffè Confetteria Al Bicerin dal 1763 is a historic café and confectionery store in Turin, located just in front of the Sanctuary of the Consolata. Inside, wooden panels, mirrors, lamps, and small marble tables make up a space that has kept its 19th-century appearance.
The café was founded in 1763 by Giuseppe Dentis, who created the Bicerin drink there. In 1856, architect Carlo Promis redesigned the interior with wooden panels and marble details, giving it the look it still has today.
The café sits just in front of the Sanctuary of the Consolata, which made it one of the few places where women could once go on their own. After mass, they would dip biscuits into a Bicerin to break their fast.
The café is easy to reach on foot and sits close to the center of Turin. The best time to visit is in the morning or during quieter afternoon hours, as the space is small and tends to fill up.
Camillo Benso di Cavour, one of the leading figures of Italian unification, was a known regular here. In 2001, the café was named 'Best Bar in Italy' by Gambero Rosso magazine.
