Saikai

Saikai is a coastal city on the Nishisonogi Peninsula surrounded by three bodies of water: the Goto Sea, Sasebo Bay, and Omura Bay. The city spans across islands and coastal areas linked by bridges.

The city formed on April 1, 2005, when five separate towns merged: Saikai, Oseto, Oshima, Sakito, and Seihi. This consolidation created a larger administrative entity in the region.

The Sound Shower Museum holds a large collection of analog recordings housed in a converted school building. Visitors can explore how sound was preserved and shared across different decades.

Public transportation relies mainly on buses since the city has no direct railway service. Plan to use buses for moving around or consider driving from nearby Sasebo.

The Yukinoura Guest House Moritaya has operated for over 90 years and offers traditional lodging with tatami mats. Located near the Yukinoura River and a seaside park, it represents long-standing local hospitality practices.
