Aomono-Yokochō Station, Railway station in Minami-Shinagawa, Japan
Aomono-Yokochō Station is an elevated railway station in Minami-Shinagawa with two side platforms serving two tracks. Escalators and elevators provide convenient access for all passengers.
The station opened on May 8, 1904, as part of the Keikyu Main Line, marking the beginning of rail transport in this area. It played a key role in connecting the rapidly developing neighborhood to the city.
The name comes from the Edo period when farmers brought vegetables to local markets, making this the only Japanese station with "Yokocho" in its name. The term reflects this trading heritage that shaped the neighborhood.
The station sits just four minutes from Shinagawa and offers quick connections throughout the city. From here you can reach Tokyo Station in about 21 minutes and Shibuya in about 19 minutes.
The station underwent a complete elevation transformation between 1989 and 1991, with the northbound line raised first. The southbound track followed in a separate construction phase.
