Momoyamagoryō-mae Station, railway station in Kyoto, Kyoto prefecture, Japan
Momoyamagoryō-mae Station is a railway station on the Kintetsu Kyoto Line in the Fushimi-ku district of Kyoto. It has two facing platforms, a single ticket gate, and a compact layout that is built around everyday local travel.
The station opened in 1928 as part of the Nara Electric Railroad, one of the regional lines that connected Kyoto to neighboring areas. In the 1960s, the company merged into the Kintetsu group, and the station has continued to serve local passengers without major changes since then.
The station's name combines the word for peach mountain with a reference to a former imperial villa that once stood nearby. The streets around the exit are lined with small shops and houses, and the area has the feel of a residential neighborhood that people move through as part of their daily routine.
To reach the station, take a local service on the Kintetsu Kyoto Line from Kyoto Station, since limited express trains do not stop here. It is worth checking which type of train you board before departing, as the difference is clearly shown on the platform signs.
The platforms here are sized for around six train cars, which is shorter than many stops on the same line and limits which trains can use them. This means only shorter local trains stop here, which gives the station a notably different pace compared to larger stops nearby.
