Morioka Racecourse, Horse racing venue in Morioka, Japan.
Morioka Racecourse is a horse racing venue in Morioka featuring both a dirt track and an inner grass course positioned at the base of Mount Iwate. The facility offers multiple racing configurations and is operated by the Iwate Racing Association.
The racecourse was founded in 1932 and became an important venue for horse racing in the region over the decades. It underwent complete reconstruction in 1992 and reopened in 1996 with modernized facilities under Iwate Racing Association management.
The facility is known locally as Oro Park and hosts major horse races such as the Mile Championship Nambu Hai and Mercury Cup that draw competitors from across Japan. These racing events bring a special energy to the region and connect people around their shared interest in equestrian sport.
Visitors can reach the racecourse in around 20 minutes by car from JR Morioka Station or take advantage of free shuttle buses on race days. The journey is straightforward, and special transportation options are available for guests attending events.
The two track surfaces each measure 25 meters wide with a 300-meter straight section, allowing different race formats to be held on the same grounds. This flexibility enables the venue to adapt to varying competition requirements.
