Nishi-Tokorozawa Station, railway station in Tokorozawa, Saitama prefecture, Japan
Nishi-Tokorozawa Station is a railway station in the city of Tokorozawa in Saitama Prefecture, served by two Seibu Railway lines. It has three ground-level platforms with four tracks in total, and platform doors that open only when a train is stopped.
The station opened in 1915 under the name Kotesashi and was renamed Nishi-Tokorozawa later that same year. In 2013, through-run services began, letting trains travel directly toward Yokohama without passengers needing to change.
The station has carried its current name since 1915, originally called Kotesashi before being renamed that same year. Daily, you observe students, workers, and families moving through the space, all relying on the Seibu Railway network to connect different parts of their lives.
The station has elevators, ramps, and step-free platforms, so it works well for strollers and wheelchairs. Some signage is in English, and staff are usually on hand to help with directions or questions.
In 2012 the station was assigned the code SI18, a short label that appears on maps and signs to help travelers find their stop quickly. This kind of alphanumeric code is particularly useful for visitors who cannot read Japanese characters.
