Qiball, Combined facility in Chūō, Japan
Qiball is a combined public facility in the Chūō district of Chiba, Japan, housing a science museum, a health center, and a children's area across multiple floors. The building is city-owned and brings together several community services under one roof.
The building was designed by Nikken Sekkei and opened in 2007 as part of an effort to bring new public services to central Chiba. It represented a step toward grouping educational and health resources in one place for the local community.
The science museum inside the building lets visitors try hands-on experiments rather than just looking at displays. It is especially popular with school groups and families who come to learn through doing.
The building is centrally located in Chiba and can be reached on foot from the main train station, with parking also available nearby. Since the facilities are spread across many floors, it helps to plan ahead and allow enough time for the visit.
One of the upper floors has an observation area with views over Chiba that many visitors miss because they focus on the museum or health center. It offers a different way to see the city without going to a dedicated viewpoint.
