ClubMed Hokkaido Sahoro, building in Shintoku, Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan
Club Med Hokkaido Sahoro is a small resort in Shintoku, a quiet area in central Hokkaido surrounded by snow-covered trees and mountains. The resort features three main buildings (Ashoro, Bihoro, and Chitose) offering rooms of different sizes, along with restaurants, a bar, wellness facilities, and direct access to ski slopes.
Club Med Sahoro was established as part of the international Club Med movement, which has operated vacation resorts in many countries since the 1950s. The Hokkaido resort adapted this concept to combine the inclusive all-inclusive model with the natural conditions and culture of northern Japan.
The resort's name blends the global Club Med brand with the local name Sahoro, rooted in the Ainu language. The place keeps a simple, traditional atmosphere that sets it apart from larger, more modern resorts, reflecting the character of a cozy mountain lodge nestled in nature.
You can reach the resort by flying to Sapporo and then driving or taking the train for about three hours through snow-covered forests. Upon arrival, staff will take your luggage to your room, and you can rest and get comfortable before exploring the facilities.
The resort features an outdoor hot bath called the Canadian Bath that becomes especially appealing when snow falls, as hot steam meets cold air. Additionally, all meals, drinks, ski lessons, and kids' activities are included in the price, simplifying travel and eliminating surprise bills.
