Yaoko Kawagoe Museum

The Yaoko Kawagoe Museum displays works of contemporary realism by Yuji Misu in a modern building near the Shingashi River. The space combines biographical exhibits with rotating art presentations in carefully designed rooms.

The museum was founded in 2012 by Taisei Corporation to mark the 24th anniversary of the Yaoko supermarket chain. The architecture was designed following plans by Ito Toyoo, a leading Japanese architect.

The museum regularly hosts piano concerts and violin performances that connect visitors with contemporary Japanese art. These events take place in the modern spaces and create a dialogue between the artist and the audience.

The museum sits in the Hikawa-cho area and is easy to reach, with lounge areas and a cafe for visitors who want to relax. Inside there is a shop where you can buy souvenirs and exhibition catalogs.

The building was designed by Ito Toyoo, whose style is recognized internationally and has won numerous awards. His minimalist approach shapes how you experience the exhibition spaces and the artworks inside.
