Renkei-ji, Buddhist temple in Kawagoe, Japan
The temple contains multiple worship halls centered around a main structure featuring traditional Japanese Buddhist architectural elements with curved roofs and wooden columns.
Established in 1549 by Renkei, mother of Daidoji Masashige, the temple gained recognition in 1602 as part of the Kantō Jūhachi Danrin Buddhism educational system.
Monthly temple fairs occur on the 8th day, featuring Buddhist storytelling sessions and community gatherings that maintain local traditions.
Visitors can reach the temple through a 5-minute walk from Honkawagoe Station or by taking a Tobu bus from Kawagoe Station to the Renkenji-mae stop.
The temple houses an Obinzuru-sama statue that people touch on specific body parts corresponding to their ailments, seeking physical healing through this practice.
