The Royal Grand Hall of Buddhism, Buddhist temple in Kato, Japan
The Royal Grand Hall of Buddhism features a 51.5-meter-tall main hall with two-tiered architecture, incorporating traditional Japanese carpentry techniques and detailed wooden structures.
Leaders from Buddhist nations gathered at the 2005 World Buddhist Summit and decided to establish this sacred site for 520 million Buddhists, leading to its completion in 2008.
The temple serves as a central meeting point for Buddhist leaders from various Asian nations, hosting ceremonies and cultural exchanges between religious representatives.
Visitors can join free guided tours led by monks, lasting 3-4 hours, which include explanations of Buddhist principles, architecture, and sculptures throughout the complex.
The temple grounds contain over 1,000 Japanese cedar trees from Kyoto's Kitayama region, with some specimens reaching 500 years in age.
