Sai rin-ji

Sai rin-ji is a Buddhist temple in Nishiwaki featuring multiple wooden buildings connected by stone pathways and garden spaces. The layout includes distinct structures designed for worship, teaching, and residential purposes within the grounds.

The temple was founded in 796 during Japan's Heian period and later suffered major destruction in 990 and 1233, leading to significant reconstruction efforts. These periods of damage and rebuilding shaped the architectural character visible at the site today.
