The Yukara Ori Craft Museum displayed textile creations made from locally sourced wool, hand-dyed and woven through the tsumugi technique using up to 300 colors.
Founded by textile artist Aya Kiuchi in May 1980, the museum operated for 36 years until its closure on December 1, 2016 in the Hokkaido Folk Arts and Crafts Village.
The museum exhibited textiles inspired by Hokkaido nature patterns and traditional folklore, with 'yukara' meaning epic poem in the Ainu language of northern Japan.
