Irago Lighthouse, Maritime lighthouse in Tahara, Japan.
Irago Lighthouse is a white tower located at the tip of the Atsumi Peninsula in Aichi Prefecture. It stands at a point where the Pacific Ocean and Mikawa Bay meet.
The lighthouse began operating in 1929 to assist ships navigating between Ise Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Its continued use underscores the ongoing importance of this location for maritime traffic.
The structure belongs to a select group of 50 lighthouses that represent Japan's commitment to maritime safety and coastal infrastructure development.
The lighthouse is a 10-minute walk from the free parking area at Koijigahama Beach. This parking spot is easy to find and offers ample space for visitors.
From this location, visitors can observe Kamishima Island and Pacific Ocean currents at the same time. The position also reveals geological rock formations along the surrounding coastline.
