Kitazawa Museum of Art, Art museum in Suwa, Japan

The Kitazawa Museum of Art stands on the shores of Lake Suwa, displaying 1,000 glass artworks and 200 paintings from Japanese and international artists.

Founded by industrialist Toshio Kitazawa, the museum opened its doors on May 21, 1983, bringing a significant cultural institution to Nagano Prefecture.

The museum houses French Art Nouveau and Art Deco glass pieces from the late 19th to early 20th century, including works by Emile Gallé and René Lalique.

Located 15 minutes from Kamisuwa Station, the museum operates from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with adult admission at ¥1000 and reduced hours during winter months.

The first floor presents multiple glass formations reflecting Suwa's glass-making tradition, while the second floor exhibits Japanese-style paintings from the 1960s onwards.
