Suwa City Museum of Art

The Suwa City Museum of Art contains a collection of 1000 pieces of French Art Nouveau and Art Deco glass works from the late 19th century.

Established in 1956 and later designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property, the museum holds significant architectural importance within the Japanese cultural landscape.

The museum displays a collection of 200 paintings by modern Japanese artists from the post-1960s period, along with works by European glass artists Emile Gallé and René Lalique.

Located at 392-0027 Suwa city, Nagano Prefecture, near Suwa Lake, the museum offers rotating exhibitions and educational programs throughout the year.

The glass collection features the exceptional 'Lamp: Les Coprins' by Emile Gallé, representing the intersection of Japanese artistry and European glass-making traditions.
