Wakayama Marina City is an artificial island resort spanning roughly 49 hectares along Wakaura Bay. The complex contains a marina, theme park, fish market, natural hot springs, and hotel accommodations all in one location.
The resort was created through a partnership between Matsushita Investment Company and Wakayama Prefecture, starting in 1989. The development opened to the public in July 1994 after years of construction.
