Established in 1993 by collector Mitsuo Horie, the museum stands in Kurakuen, a location formerly used as a quarry for Tokugawa Osaka Castle reconstruction.
The museum maintains a permanent exhibition of mechanical music instruments, illustrating the development of automated musical technology through centuries.
The museum opens daily from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with advance reservations required and access via Hankyu Bus to Kurakuen stop.
Visitors can experience the sounds of functioning antique music boxes, with each piece in the collection representing different musical mechanisms and traditions.
