The Sapporo Salmon Museum features exhibits about salmon ecology, including dioramas, video displays, and observation channels for viewing live fish specimens.

The museum opened in 1984 as part of a community initiative following the Come Back Salmon Movement, which started in 1978 to restore local salmon populations.

The facility demonstrates the connection between Sapporo residents and salmon through educational programs, spawning demonstrations, and ecological preservation efforts.

Located 25 minutes from central Sapporo, the museum provides free admission, parking for 172 vehicles, and operates from 9:15 AM to 4:45 PM except Mondays.

The Underground Observation Room allows visitors to watch salmon and freshwater fish through underwater windows while learning about their natural behaviors.
