Shiodome Sumitomo Building, Modern skyscraper in Higashi-Shinbashi, Japan.
The Shiodome Sumitomo Building is a modern skyscraper with a glass facade and contemporary design in Tokyo's business district. It houses extensive office spaces and connects directly with the dense transportation network surrounding the area.
The building was completed in July 2004 and rose from the site of a former rail yard. This transformation was part of a large-scale redevelopment of the entire Shiodome district.
The architectural firm Nikken Sekkei designed this structure following Japanese principles of efficiency and integration with the surrounding environment.
The building is easily accessible via the nearby Shimbashi and Shiodome stations. Entry to the interior is straightforward, and the location is active during standard business hours.
The building integrates energy efficiency features into its design, including rainwater harvesting and LED lighting throughout. These environmentally conscious elements are woven throughout the structure and demonstrate sustainable skyscraper design.
