Château de Kaifu

Château de Kaifu is a Japanese castle located in Tokushima Prefecture with a central keep surrounded by fortified walls arranged in concentric rings. The structure combines stone foundations with wooden buildings that rise above the defensive barriers.

The castle was built during the Warring States period when regional lords constructed fortifications to control their territories and maintain power. It served as a military stronghold that allowed the local daimyo to exercise authority and influence throughout the surrounding area.

Like many Japanese castles, Kaifu represents the power structure of feudal society where regional lords governed from these strategic military installations.

The elevated location offers visitors wide views of the surrounding landscape and makes exploring the ruins an easy uphill walk. Comfortable shoes are recommended since accessing different levels of the site involves moving through natural and restored pathways.

The structure integrates traditional Japanese building techniques, utilizing wood as the primary material while incorporating stone foundations for enhanced stability.
