Yodo Castle, Japanese castle in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto, Japan
The stone walls and inner moat of Yodo Castle stand at the confluence of the Uji and Katsura Rivers in Kyoto Prefecture.
Matsudaira Sadatsuna constructed Yodo Castle in 1623 using materials from Fushimi Castle, following orders from Tokugawa Hidetada of the Edo shogunate.
The castle grounds feature architectural elements typical of Japanese fortifications, including steep stone ramparts and strategic water defenses.
Visitors can reach the castle ruins within four minutes on foot from Yodo Station on the Keihan Electric Railway line.
Two large waterwheels, measuring 16 meters in diameter, were installed on the western and northern sides of the castle structure.
