Takinomizu Park, City park in Shinonokaze district, Nagoya, Japan.
Takinomizu Park is a city park located on a hilltop in Nagoya's Midori district, covering approximately 4 hectares. The grounds feature open green spaces, recreational facilities, and multiple viewing points offering 360-degree perspectives of the surroundings.
The site originally housed Nagoya Pharmaceutical College from 1931 to 1950, then became a landfill. Following the 1959 Isewan Typhoon, it was transformed into the current park.
The park functions as a central gathering space where residents spend time together. It offers play areas and takes advantage of its elevated position for observing the city lights at night.
The park provides a parking area with about 20 spaces and closes at 17:00. Visitors can reach it by city bus routes from Naruko-Kita subway station.
Gas ventilation pipes remain visible throughout the park grounds, serving as reminders of its past function as a covered waste disposal site. These remnants reveal the site's industrial history beneath its current green landscape.
