Dōhō Park, Urban recreational park in Ninomiya, Tsukuba, Japan.
Dōhō Park is a public park in Ninomiya, a district of Tsukuba in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. A wide promenade lined with ginkgo trees runs from the main entrance toward the New City Memorial Hall, connecting tennis courts, an indoor swimming pool, and a natural grass field along the way.
The park opened in 1980 as Tsukuba was being developed into a planned science city, with green spaces built alongside the new residential districts. It was designed from the start as a place for the growing population arriving in the area.
The park sits in a neighborhood built as part of Tsukuba Science City, and it reflects the daily life of the people who grew up there. On weekend mornings, families walk along the paths, groups use the sports fields, and older residents move at a slower pace through the grounds.
The park is easy to reach on foot from the surrounding neighborhoods and has facilities for both sport and outdoor walking. Visiting on a weekday tends to be quieter, especially near the sports areas.
A rubber-paved path circles Dobonuma Swamp in a quieter corner of the grounds, where visitors can watch waterbirds at close range. This part of the park feels separate from the rest and draws far fewer visitors than the sports facilities nearby.
