JAXA Tsukuba Space Center

The JAXA Tsukuba Space Center contains multiple facilities for satellite assembly, rocket development, and specialized laboratories for space technology research and testing.

Opening in 1972 as part of Tsukuba Science City, this center established Japan's primary location for space operations and astronaut training programs.

The Space Dome exhibition hall presents Japanese space achievements through full-scale models, including the H-II rocket and replicas of International Space Station components.

Visitors can access guided facility tours by taking the JR Joban Line to Arakawaoki Station followed by the Kantetsu Bus service to the center.

The center maintains the Kibo Operation Control Room, which manages Japan's research laboratory module attached to the International Space Station.
