Shirotori-kofun, Ancient burial mound in Atsuta Ward, Nagoya, Japan.

The keyhole-shaped Shirotori-kofun extends 74 meters in length, with a square front section connected to a circular rear portion.

The burial mound dates from the early 6th century, marking a period when regional leaders of the Owari clan held substantial power.

Within the structure, clay figures known as haniwa were placed to mark sacred areas and protect the deceased in the afterlife.

Located five minutes on foot from Jingu Nishi Station, the archaeological site welcomes visitors interested in exploring ancient Japanese structures.

The eastern section of the original mound structure no longer exists due to urban development throughout the centuries.
