Fukino Falls

Fukino Falls is a two-part waterfall with sections named Otaki and Metaki that combine to reach roughly 65 meters in height. The cascades flow through mountainous terrain, creating a substantial natural formation visible from multiple vantage points.

This waterfall has been recognized for centuries as Ryusen-ji Temple Waterfall, gaining its historical standing through this religious connection. The temple nearby established this site as an important natural landmark.

Local artists and writers visit the Takimidai observation point behind Ryusen-ji Temple to draw inspiration from the flowing water. The falls serve as a gathering place for creative work rooted in nature.

The falls can be reached by car in around 25 minutes from Higashi Kyushu Expressway Ajimu IC, with two parking lots offering 40 spaces in total. This easy access makes it convenient for a short visit or a longer stop in the area.

Rainbows can form over the water during certain conditions throughout the year. The fall season adds brilliant red and gold tones to the forest surrounding the falls.
