Fukino Falls drops about 65 meters in two channels, the male Otaki and female Metaki, whose combined flow matches the other two waterfalls of the Usa Three Falls. Its wall has two layers: Shin'yaba lava above and agglomerate below. The plunge pool faces east, so morning sunlight on the spray produces many small rainbows.

Fukino Falls lies within the area designated as the national Place of Scenic Beauty of Yabakei. It is counted with Nishi-Shiiya Falls and Higashi-Shiiya Falls as one of the "Three Falls of Usa". Writers and painters favoured the view from the waterfall-viewing platform in the grounds of Ryusen-ji, the temple above the falls, and the falls were also called Ryusen Falls or Ryusen-ji Falls.

The falls are also called Ryusen-ji Falls and Ryusen Falls, after the temple whose grounds hold the Takimidai overlook above the water. Writers and painters favoured that view and worked it into their pieces. The falls are sometimes counted as the child of Nishi-Shiiya's male fall and Higashi-Shiiya's female fall, completing Usa's three falls.

The falls can be reached by car in around 25 minutes from Higashi Kyushu Expressway Ajimu IC, with two parking lots offering 40 spaces in total. This easy access makes it convenient for a short visit or a longer stop in the area.

The falls are also called Urami-no-taki because a path leads behind the water curtain, though the route is faint and needs care. The basin faces east, so morning sunlight strikes the spray and small rainbows appear one after another.
