第一大川橋梁, bridge in Japan
The Dai Ichi Okawa Bridge was a railway bridge that crossed the Agagawa River between Aizu-Wakamatsu City and Shimogo Town in Fukushima Prefecture. It featured a simple steel girder structure with a single track running across a flat platform.
The bridge opened in 1932 to extend the railway line connecting remote mountain villages and supporting local industries. It was dismantled in 1980 when dam construction projects altered the landscape and the railway line was abandoned.
Access the area through mountain trails and nearby lakes, particularly around Wakasato Lake. The terrain is steep with elevations of about 25 percent, so wear appropriate footwear and be prepared for uneven ground.
The bridge foundations now rest beneath Wakasato Lake after dam construction flooded the area. Railway photographers once gathered here to capture the steep mountain grade and dramatic valley views before the line was abandoned.
