聖保羅學園高等學校, Highschool in Japan
Saint Paul's Academy High School, known in Japanese as 聖保羅學園高等學校, is a private secondary school in Hachioji, on the western edge of Tokyo. The campus holds teaching buildings, sports grounds, and an equestrian facility, making it one of the few schools in the area with that kind of infrastructure.
The school was founded in 1948 and spent its early years in Minato ward, in central Tokyo. In 1972 it moved to Hachioji, where it has remained ever since and gradually became part of the local community there.
The school takes its name from the apostle Paul and blends Christian values into everyday Japanese school life, which visitors can notice in the way students and staff carry themselves on campus. This combination of faith and local school culture gives the place a tone that feels distinct from a typical public school.
The campus sits in a calm part of Hachioji and is reachable by bus, with a short walk from the nearest stop. Since it is an active school, visitors who wish to see the grounds should contact the administration in advance.
The school runs its own on-site stable, where students can learn to ride and take part in equestrian competitions. Very few schools in Japan offer this sport directly on their own grounds.
