Saikoku-ji

Saikoku-ji Temple features a Niomon Gate, a three-storied pagoda, and 108 stone steps leading to the main temple buildings on elevated ground.

The Buddhist monk Gyōki established Saikoku-ji around 800 CE, marking the beginning of its role in Japan's religious development during the Nara period.

The temple participates in three major pilgrimage routes: the Sanyō Flower Temple circuit, the Chinese 49 Yakushi Sacred Site, and the Chūgoku 33 Kannon route.

Located at 29-27 Nishikubocho, the temple opens from 8:00 to 17:00, with interior visits permitted between 9:00 and 16:30.

Large straw sandals decorate the Niomon Gate, representing the pilgrimages undertaken by visitors who climb the extensive stone stairway to reach the temple grounds.
