西神吉町岸, Residential district in Kakogawa, Japan

Nishikishi is a residential district located in the western part of Kakogawa City, surrounded by rice fields and houses along the Hokkesandani River. The area is directly accessible via Hoden Station on the JR Kobe Line, forming a typical neighborhood with local services and transportation connections.

The area originated in 1889 when Kishi Village merged with six neighboring villages to form Nishikanki Village. This merged community later became part of Kakogawa City in 1956 through administrative consolidation.

The neighborhood participates in autumn festivals at Ikiishi Shrine, where residents carry a traditional Yassa float with a distinctive curved roof. This festival practice connects the community to seasonal celebrations and local traditions that have deep roots in the area.

The neighborhood is conveniently located near Hoden Station, allowing visitors to use public transportation easily. Like most Japanese residential areas, it features neighborhood shops and schools within walking distance.

The Yassa float of this district is the only one among all Ikiishi Shrine neighborhoods that features a distinctive curved futon-style roof. This architectural detail makes it visually distinctive during festival processions compared to all other floats in the region.
