Sanbō-in Garden, Buddhist temple garden in Fushimi-ku, Japan.
The garden spreads across 5,000 square meters with a central pond, multiple bridges, stone arrangements, and carefully placed islands around the water features.
Established in 1624, the garden underwent substantial changes when Toyotomi Hideyoshi reconstructed it for a grand cherry blossom celebration in 1598.
The garden incorporates 800 stones from different feudal territories of Japan, including the notable Fujito stone that required 5,000 bushels of rice.
Visitors can reach the garden by taking the JR Biwako Line to Yamashina Station, followed by the Tozai Subway and a 13-minute walk.
The garden features specific viewing points from temple rooms, allowing visitors to observe carefully planned landscape compositions from designated locations.
